Morganne was introduced to the magic of horses and riding when she was 6 years old, thanks to a non-profit program in Compton, California that was designed to, “keep kids on horses and off the street”. From that first experience, she was hooked. She felt such a strong love & affinity for horses that continually grows stronger. For nearly a decade now, Morganne has devoted herself to constantly improving her skills & developing her competencies as a competitive equestrian. Morganne credits the experience of taking care of the horses and exercising the self-discipline necessary to grow as a rider, for developing a character of sensitivity and internal strength necessary to meet life’s challenges with courage, head on. She focuses on solutions and always doing her best regardless of what she’s up against. When she commits to something, Morganne is going to give it 100% of her best effort, every time.
Morganne’s dedication to excellence is evident in all areas of her life. She is a dedicated student, an aspiring civic leader and a young woman who understands the importance of giving back and paying it forward! Academically she is a STEM student who boasts a 4.0 GPA, she is engaged in community and civic leadership as a member of the Youth & Government, and as a volunteer for a community based, non-profit horse-riding program for disabled children. She currently looks forward to pursuing a medical degree as an Anesthesiologist.
Despite not owning her own horse to compete with, over the years, Morganne has progressed impressively through the Hunter-Jumper classes. She has received numerous awards and accolades since beginning to compete, such as “Champion”, “Best Riding Style pony Award, The “Horsemanship Award” at the West Palm event, and numerous ribbons.
In May of 2021, a horse named Champ trotted into Morganne’s life when he was donated to an Inner-City Youth Equestrian Program that Morganne was involved with. She has been very fortunate and is grateful to have access to train and show with Champ. Since they became a team, Morganne has been working toward achieving the “Horse of the Year Award”. Ultimately, she has advanced to the 1.10 M in Jumpers, and has started competing in the Hunter Derby.
Over the years, aside from her hard work and determination, Morganne has progressed this far thanks to the generosity of the individuals who, recognizing her talent and potential, have invested their time and talent in her. She takes nothing for granted and is extremely grateful for allowing her participation in mentorship experiences, workshops, clinics and training with Olympians, Will Simpson, Kathy Kusner, Joe Fargus, and Jessica Springsteen.
Morganne’s family is very proud of her. She is a kindhearted, generous, honest and hard-working young woman who despite the odds continues to give her best to all she does from the academic arena to the horse arena. She is not a complainer or a whiner! Through her hard work & dedication over these many years, they have brought her this far and they are proud of the accomplishments and grateful for the journey. But there is much more yet to achieve and this young lady, Morganne has what it takes to go the distance.
